Pros

The most obvious thing is the culture, unlike any corporate atmosphere I've ever personally witnessed and has the feel of what tech companies in Silicon Valley are rumored to be like. At work, the atmosphere is fun and relaxed, with open break areas and collaboration/testing areas. They are open to employee ideas and feedback, and some ideas get developed by engineers and implemented into the product offerings. Company-funded happy hours and in-office games and competitions keep things fun and fresh, and there is a yearly company retreat. Probably the best thing about here is the people. This HR team has done an amazing job of hiring not only good candidates, but ones that FIT WELL with the already established employees. The more you work with them, the more you get to know them and find things in common, and the better you get to like them. I have formed several deep friendships since working here, and multiple weekends a month people are looking to get together outside of work to just have fun. When you work with your friends, you truly care about helping one another out, and that leads to great quality and highly efficient work results. Finally, if you work hard and offer results, there IS room for advancement. The training process is intense as there is a lot of information to digest. Once fully trained and established as self-sufficient, additional responsibilities are available. I've made it clear that I'm willing to help wherever and whenever needed, and that is really valued here. You have the option of where you would like to specialize, and which additional responsibilities you would like to take on. My responsibilities have shifted quite severely in the almost 11 months I've been here and it has me very excited for the years to come. Forging your own path is still an option at Alarm.com as they don't put you in a box. I'll be sure to update this as my career advances, to keep the insight fresh.

Cons

Personally, I have a long commute, but that is nothing to fault the company for. Nothing really comes to mind off of the top of my head, and if you really have to sit down and think hard about what you dislike about your job, that speaks volumes as to just how satisfied you really are.

Pros

Company culture - the people are great. Decent benefits for a single person Interesting products and projects Work from home flexibility (2 days)

Cons

Compensation could be more competitive for the area. Unfortunately, they are taking advantage of the employer market right now, and offering salaries 6k less than what starting salaries the year prior was offered. Your manager definitely has the biggest impact on your time here, with little regulation or management above them. It will entirely shape your experience, for better or for worse. Decreased work from home flexibility - when I accepted the offer, my recruiter told me it was typical for employees to work from home around the November and December holidays, with no need to take all your vacation days to do so. At the last minute, this norm was mysteriously taken away, and depending on your manager, employees were told to either use their vacation days or be in the office the day before and after Xmas. Cozy. The AI strategy here is starting to finally look like an actual strategy, but before that it was in every sense of the world a mania and definitely shifted the culture in a bad way. Kudos to the people who attempted to take leadership and actually formulate our strategy. HR here is kind of useless, the team is extremely bloated. Onboarding was not a fun experience.
