Used to be a great place to work—now it’s just a test of endurance - Software Developer Aleph Labs Employee Review

Pros

The company works on interesting projects, which can make the job engaging. Previously, flexibility was one of its biggest perks, and working with talented colleagues made the environment enjoyable. However, many of those great colleagues have left, and the work culture has declined significantly.

Cons

The CEO is incompetent and surrounded by a management team that values bootlicking over real leadership. Hard work is punished, while mediocrity and office politics are rewarded. Employees are given unrealistic deadlines and used as scapegoats when things inevitably go wrong. Transparency is non-existent—employees are misled or outright lied to, and raising concerns is a waste of time because no one listens. The treatment of employees is extremely poor. Talented people keep leaving, yet no effort is made to retain them. There is no proper appraisal process, and salary increments are rare—you literally have to beg just to be reviewed. Benefits are below industry standards, yet employees are expected to perform at a high level with minimal support. Despite forcing employees back to the office, the working environment is terrible. The office is old, cramped, and lacks enough washrooms, yet facility costs are overpriced. Employees are given basic laptops but are somehow expected to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. Instead of meaningful improvements, the company enforces pointless micromanagement tools like daily journals, Flocket, and a blame-passing culture. Company policies are another major problem. They constantly change, always in ways that benefit the company at the employees’ expense. There is no stability or consistency—rules are rewritten or discarded at the CEO’s whim, making it impossible for employees to feel secure in their jobs. To make things worse, there is no proper HR department. Instead, a so-called "Happiness Team" pretends to handle HR matters but does the exact opposite of promoting happiness. Employees are mistreated and manipulated, and any concerns about these issues are ignored.
