Pros

You get to work with medical staff and affect patient care. Allscripts is the 3rd largest Healthcare IT company in the world. They play a major role in the market. So you have job, even in a bad economy. The offices are fully furnished and very nice. The Raleigh office has a nice gym, and cafeteria. The benefits are "okay."

Cons

-Major buddy system. Bad employees who are friends with management can do as they please, and also get rave reviews. -Busting your butt at work usually brings little to no positive feedback or benefit. -Smokers are allowed to go out and smoke whenever they so choose for 15 minutes at a time (it's usually once every hour, sometimes more) while non-smokers must work longer days by default because they don't smoke and pick up the smokers slack. Unfortunately, when you have those in charge who smoke, this won't change. -No room for advancement. -They love to feed you corporate talking points and nonsense to momentarily appease you to changes that will negatively affect you. -The CEO doesn't have a clue about anything other than making money and merging with other companies to monopolize the industry. -No raises -HUGE problems internally to this day resulting from the merger between Allscripts and Misys. The difference in pay is unbelievable. Allscripts employees make FAR less than Misys employees on average. That creates a bad work environment. Allscripts and Misys still essentially act as two separate companies, and neither knows each others products very well. There is a general difference in the work style and professionalism of the two companies. The Misys employees are lazy, socialize frequently, and have poor product knowledge, but are generally more professional and emphasize closing cases properly rather than numbers. The Allscripts employees are generally harder working, and have better product knowledge, but have a huge buddy system problem and are a lot more unprofessional. -The emphasis is on closing support tickets, not quality assurance. Yet they email Voice Of Client surveys asking for client's feedback after you close a support ticket. And this effects your evaluation. You can't have it both ways. Either you demand we close "X" amount of tickets a day, or prefer we do the job right and take our time and make the client happy. -Hostile work environments in support. Profanity, threats, name calling, confrontations, and near fights have all ensued. NOTHING has been done. It is not taken seriously. -Payroll is incompetent and messes up paychecks frequently -In some groups you are heavily micromanaged -Management target certain employees they don't like -Lots of gossiping and backstabbing -Not enough clear policies or processes. Lots of confusion on what to do in a given situation, and too often no one is sure who to go to or what to do. -When the clients get mad and stomp there feet, we bend over backwards to kiss there butt no matter the scenario. I could go on, but you get the idea. Allscripts was a decent place to work prior to the merger. That's no longer the case.
