Pros
Job security. Good PTO. Mobility to work anywhere in the country. Good pension. Standard 401k match by industry standards.
Cons
Company is a salary lager. Every two years we get raises to not fall behind the industry standard. Getting promotions is hard and when you do get them you are given a chart telling you that you are overpaid and that you need another promotion within the next two years otherwise you will see one percent or no raise at the end of the year. The company is always at the forefront of technology. However it could be stressful learning new procedures or tools every 6 months to a year. Sometimes these tools are resisted by customer's and that could put us in a predicament where we are trying to promote an new feature or tool while the insd is resistant to the new technology. The biggest con is work life balance. This is going to depend on the manager that you have but if you have an aggressive manager be prepared to work on days off and late into the night. At times work life balance can seem like a myth.
