Pros

You are flexible to work remotely anywhere in the contiguous United States.

Cons

They will try to lowball you on your interview, well below what anyone who meets their desired qualifications should accept for pay. Their interviews were just opportunities for them to see what you look like as they turned into more personal conversations, while one C-suite member attacked my qualifications. Ironic, now that the company is rampant with unqualified hires who are a result of nepotism. The company claims they have a start-up mentality as many of its procedures are still in their infancy, welcoming inputs and views from others from other sectors; however, if you suggest change, you become part of the problem. Procedures and regulations are not in infancy, they are non-existent. Most generally accepted standards come about because some subordinate employee wrote an email, a member of higher management saw it, and that became the accepted template or standard. At some point, management introduced the Senior PM positions, which oversaw us, but from an operational standpoint, they were just messengers from the C-Suite. One of those Senior PMs was so unqualified and incompetent in her duties that it was known that she frequently requested assistance from her subordinates to further her understanding of a task or assignment. This company is afraid of hiring qualified people with a questioning attitude, so they surround themselves with family. Instead of promoting from within a group of 6-8 existing program managers, the CEO, Holly Cooper, brought in her sister-in-law. Additionally, her son was brought on into a minor leadership role despite having no leadership or managerial experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding nepotism. We understand that it can raise concerns about fairness and meritocracy. While we aim to create an environment based on talent and hard work. That said, we are committed to maintaining transparency and equal opportunity for all employees.

Pros

Altumint provides a stable salary and benefits.

Cons

When I started working here, I had two managers above me in the company structure and ten teammates. Now, I have five managers and six teammates. My team's workforce/manager ratio went down from 5.5 to 1.4. Old managers who knew all the details of the products and cared about product success, including the founding engineer, were demoted to non-managers. The new management cares more about Jira tickets than the actual job. They constantly cherry-pick small but good-looking achievements for good reports to the higher management while ignoring the existing problems. Altumint promised career paths and salary increases from the beginning, but these promises ended up being nonexistent in practice. Staff turnover is extreme here, even among new management, including CFO, CSO, CTO, HR, VPs, etc. The new management pretends to rule a big corporation. However, it is still a tiny and slowly growing start-up where new management has drastically expanded the management structure and services without investing in the actual workforce.
