Pros
- RC colleagues can be great. - There can be a "we're all in this together" energy in the RC community that's motivating. - Some trainings are encouraged in the ramp-up period that are broadly helpful.
Cons
- Recruiters and hiring teams are disorganized, disrespectful, and often hostile. Successes with candidates belong to the recruiter and hiring manager, while failures belong to the RC. - Managers are disengaged after the ramp-up period and often unhelpful. - Following established processes is encouraged to manage workload, but recruiters ignore those processes and managers take their side, which leads to awful work / life balance. - There is an aggressive, combative recruiting culture at the company that pits different internal stakeholders against each other. - Evaluation metrics are invented and applied to the RC role without support systems or tools in place to make them achievable. Asking questions or needing assistance is seen as making excuses or a lack of ownership. - Exceeding the evaluation metrics laid out for RC’s isn’t enough to earn a raise or different job. You must also take on additional projects, which will require using unpaid time, to advance.
