Pros
The company is fun to work for, since it's an active kitchen. Staff is sometimes involved in taste testing and the like, and has access to food that is not needed for testing. Generally a young, hip company with nice people who enjoy socializing outside of work. Convenient location if you're okay with taking the T. Working within the IT department helped me in getting my next job.
Cons
Compensation is much too low for Boston's cost of living. It was very hard to get a promotion or significant raise, even if you worked hard and received stellar reviews. I was someone encouraged to leave after 2 years because my boss couldn't give me more money and knew I had the potential to make a better living at another job. Because of the appeal of working for a PBS cooking show, staff can always be replaced by someone else eager to work there. I also found upper management to be unnecessarily secretive. No information about the company's overall vision, strategy, or financials was ever shared with the staff.
