Pros

The company is fun to work for, since it's an active kitchen. Staff is sometimes involved in taste testing and the like, and has access to food that is not needed for testing. Generally a young, hip company with nice people who enjoy socializing outside of work. Convenient location if you're okay with taking the T. Working within the IT department helped me in getting my next job.

Cons

Compensation is much too low for Boston's cost of living. It was very hard to get a promotion or significant raise, even if you worked hard and received stellar reviews. I was someone encouraged to leave after 2 years because my boss couldn't give me more money and knew I had the potential to make a better living at another job. Because of the appeal of working for a PBS cooking show, staff can always be replaced by someone else eager to work there. I also found upper management to be unnecessarily secretive. No information about the company's overall vision, strategy, or financials was ever shared with the staff.

Pros

the people who are not in the C-suite or in management are the best, most kind, funny, caring, and hardworking people you will ever meet. they are the ONLY reason you stay for so long. you get food sometimes but it's after it's been moved and manipulated for photoshoots so it's always cold and touched a lot.

Cons

literally everything else they fired basically every person of color who was on the TV program or outward-facing in media they completely removed two brands out of nowhere (cook's country and ATK kids) and did not move the test cooks into the other brands for some reason management is awful, they don't trust their employees and they breathe down your neck to make sure that you're doing a good job all the while they want you to do awful work that you can't even stand by the pay is horrible and the insurance is worse. usually you get paid 10-20 thousand dollars less than anywhere else in your position. they basically removed all the perks they used to have the new C-suite is running the company into the ground, they are removing what makes ATK special. they want to be as successful as bon appetit and epicurious but they're not willing to put in the work. all of their best employees are leaving because of the poor salary and horrible treatment and the C-suite just doesn't care. if you are not looking to advance your career and want to be treated badly and with mistrust, this is the perfect place for you.
