Pros
Sales associates and merch staff were awesome, fun, hard working people. Was a fun, energetic place to work when the big bosses weren’t there. Clothes are nice.
Cons
Unrealistic expectations of management. With the new payroll model a manager is expected to run a high volume store with a skeleton staff and be a sales person, cashier, fitting room attendant, and floor manager all at once with 200-400 footsteps per hour. Also while expected to do associate assessments, manager assessments, coaching, developing, and following up with division of responsibility. Favoritism is showed by upper management. In my building specifically towards those who were Latin. You can get written up for doing something that every other manager has done and admitted to if you aren’t on their good side or are being targeted. Upper management only wants yes men and doesn’t like to hear different approaches or about what’s not working. Says they develop their people but I personally saw 3 managers thrown in a high volume store with literally no training at all, two of which have never been managers before. Schedule is ridiculous, expected long hours in retail but the following weeks schedule was posted a day and a half before the new week which never allowed for any type of planning of work life balance. Weekends off are almost non existent even though during the interview process they say it’s rotating every 4 weeks. I went 12 weeks without a weekend off and I’m pretty sure other managers went even longer. If you are not performing in your position, the mentoring you will receive consist of a paper telling you what you need to improve on and that’s it, no partnerships, no help, no advice, no touch bases, just “do better”.
