Pros
Fairly good pay and benefits
Cons
Four years ago we were told that remote work was permanent on a business unit basis. People moved away to be closer to family. Others were recruited from out of state and never lived in the Chicago area. Now the new CEO is demanding that people be required to come to the office because “it’s the trend,” not for any business reason. As usual, HR is a bunch of spineless cowards bending to one man’s ego and wrecking the lives and livelihoods of employees in the process. The rumor is that people will be forced to move to the Chicago area or be fired or demoted to contract employees and lose their health insurance. It is monstrous. Management doesn’t respect our hard work, our professionalism, or our autonomy. We are not humans to them, merely chess pieces to be moved around at the whims of the CEO, a man who is all flash and no substance and not the serious leader the AMA needs at a time when the entire field of medicine is under attack by the current political regime.
