Pros
American Pool by and large is a great place to start a career. For someone in their 20's, it is often times difficult to find job experiences that expose you to the different aspects of running a business. Through management of commercial swimming pools, you get a little exposure to everything: accounting, sales, operations, HR, supply chain, administration, IT, etc. Base salaries for a new Regional Manager or staffing director are fair and reasonable, with a decent opportunity to receive very large bonuses if you do the work (25k - 50k bonuses are not commonplace) A leadership development program is available to those wanting to operate their own locations in new markets.
Cons
During the summer when the pools are open, you are normally expected to work a 48 hour week, or 12 on and 2 off. From May thru September it is pretty intense to say the least. This is made up somewhat during the off season (October thru April) where although officially you are supposed to be there 9-5 there is usually great flexibility in this regard. Benefit package is not great for families, but for single young adults it is adequate.
