Pros

The culture of the people is amazing. I have never seen so many women in senior level positions, which is so refreshing. Professionals are treated with the upmost respect and are valued. They are offered flexibility to work remotely and have a wonderful work/life balance. If you are a SENIOR consultant, this is the perfect place for you. Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated monthly with food, desserts, and/or alcohol. Happy hours and receiving company "swag" are also a nice perk. Phil Daddona is truly the epitome of genuine, encouraging, engaging, and valuing the people at Ankura. If other executives followed him as an example of how to manage your people, Ankura could truly reach their vision. Honorable mentions for amazing senior management: Scott Corzine, John Frehse, Jim McGinley, Phil Gund, David Sawyer, Juli Saitz, Kasey Rosado, Javier Alvarez, Richard Altman, Dennis Barrett, Randy Cook, Michelle DiGruttolo, Roy Messing, Lee Fletcher, Rosanne Giambalvo, Duane Lohn, and many, many more.

Cons

As reflected in other reviews, the company has been growing at an extremely rapid pace, but their priority is hiring SMDs and MDs, so they are VERY top heavy. These are the people who benefit the most at Ankura. Simply go to their website and search people. You will not find anyone lower than Senior Director because anything lower is unworthy of recognition. Infrastructure has been a major issue since the beginning. Although the company is constantly hiring, they are NOT hiring more administration to support the growth, which leaves the operations team overwhelmed, overworked, and undervalued. Administrative professionals and consultants have two different policies. They are not written because that would clearly be unlawful, but they find ways to work around the "written" policies to show favoritism. If you are not part of the "cliques" in senior management (especially the General Counsel), your days are numbered. NEVER voice any negative opinions are issues. They claim to have an open door policy, yet I've seen it happen over and over again. Speak up and you WILL be let go.

Pros

The people here and those that choose to come, or friendly, collegial, and fun to work with. This is truly a learning environment. My colleagues have deep expertise and I learned every day. Oxygen to my brain.

Cons

The work and timelines can be intense - but sometimes that's the nature of client service and the business we are in.

Pros

I happened to be on a good team with good managers who hire well. The whole team works well together, expectations are generally set to fit everyone well, and tasks are assigned as such. The work is also quite interesting most of the time and we get opportunities to explore new work streams.

Cons

Low visibility between stakeholders and normal employees, specifically the private equity that owns the firm. This makes it difficult to understand many of the top-down decisions made and makes the whole review/raise cycle extremely weird. Every year someone asks management why there is such a long delay between reviews and promotions/raises along with no transparency surrounding raise decisions.
