Pros

Looks very good on your resume. Depending on your team, you work with great people. Also, free crackers and free juice!

Cons

1: Half of the company is made up of senior management and the company spends a lot of money to keep them while underpaying everybody else. It’s not top notch executives they bring in either. 2: Forget about a promotion if you’re a minority. All of the minorities work in HR. If they don’t, they usually quit and get replaced with another minority. Got to keep the quota you know! You get promoted based on your last name or the color of your skin. If you’re a white male - you just might do alright here! 3: The company hired a great person to be the head of HR and she quit immediately once she saw the toxic environment she walked into. She tried to change the culture and realized she was wasting her time. 4: The company fired an employee after she got sexually harassed by their upper management because she sent many emails to the whole company exposing the negativity at Ankura. 5: Ankura tried to decrease one of the only black managing directors salary but give him a raise so they can report a lower amount on how much he makes if he didn’t leave in time. He saw what they were doing and left. Shady. 6: They told a black man to pull up his pants when he wears a shirt, jeans and a belt everyday while other employees literally come in with their red hair or graphic T shirts. I wonder what that is about.

Ankura Response

We are deeply sorry that this is your perspective. As the Chief People Officer who joined Ankura almost 7 months ago I can share that we are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace for all employees. We thoroughly review all formal complaints made and even though you are no longer an employee, I would encourage you to reach out to me personally so that I may address your concerns confidentially and directly. Our CEO's direct reports are ~ 47% diverse and are committed to recognizing and rewarding people based on performance and contributions in a fair and consistent manner. We provide annual training to all employees and provide an internal anonymous support center to report grievances to ensure all employees understand our commitment to an inclusive, safe and positive work environment.

Pros

Free cheap snacks & location. That's it.

Cons

Ankura' environment is extremely toxic. Ankura keeps a tight leash on us. When we try to provide constructive criticism for it to improve the quality for its employees, our supervisors and Hunan Resources department retaliates. In fact, our head of Human Resources who was the head of a Fortune 500 company quit. She tried to change so much and the CEO and upper management were not having it. And currrently, we have no Human Resources manager (the position has been empty for a good 4 months. This company needs so much work. Ankura underpays it's junior staff and mistreats all besides it's management team. I would not want to be a person of color and certainly not a women at this company. Look at our website, there is no diversity at all. Unfortunately, the CEO and upper management is aware of all of this but they just sweep it under the rug. In addition to this. This company doesn't invest at all in those keeping this company afloat. They continue to hire Managing Directors and continue to underpay us. The only reason someone would work at Ankura is because of the title and then jumping out as quickly as you can.

Pros

Free soda and occasional free pizza for lunches. That is literally it.

Cons

HR is an absolute mess (and by that I mean the most horrendous I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with), higher level management is too engrossed in keeping the boat afloat to care about addressing the issues, turnover is high, pay is below market, work is boring and repetitive, advancement is a joke, benefits are garbage, communication with senior level people is non-existent, they won't follow your employment agreement, you get the idea. I was literally told by my manager that the way to succeed at this company was to let him take credit for my work. It's a mill, so if you go in with the mentality that this isn't a long term place to stay and understand that "hourly" to them actually means "billable hour" (the two are extremely different), then you'll understand why you'll be looking for a new job by week 2.
