Pros

Nothing positive to say about this company.

Cons

Working conditions in Florida Ybor location are awful. The building is nice and fancy and they woo you over. DONT BELIEVE THEM! Ask them for employee turn over numbers. If they can’t give them to you, take that as a sign. When I started there were 60 people in ecommerce. When I left only 2 of the original 60 were there. 60 people left in a year. Ron Wanek (the owner) is a dirty old man. He makes you sit and listen to his stories. I also reported sexual harassment here which was then discussed with all VPs until I was pulled in an office by the person who harassed me and I was told not to disparage someone’s career with untrue remarks (he stick his hand up my dress and grabbed my vagina in the elevator). In addition to that, they say they’re flexible but you have to work 8-5 in office. Not 9 hours a day, exactly the hours 8-5. No exception. They took attendance at the door several times. They have no checks and balances. Budgets and forecasts are done in excel. Their inventory system is from 1991. My paycheck was 2 weeks late one time. Just save yourself. Don’t go. And don’t believe the 5 start 1-2 line reviews on here. They make HR People write those.

We appreciate you taking time to provide your feedback. The sexual conduct and activity you describe would violate our company values and policies. We take these matters seriously. We would appreciate you providing your contact information at opinion@ashleyfurniture.com so we can collect the details and investigate this matter as our HR office does not appear to have a record of your complaint. Our work environment is also important to us. In Ybor, we have a set core working hours of 9-4pm, with flexibility to start and end the work day around those times. This is a direct result of employee feedback received at focus groups, and we are proud that this flexibility is well received by our workforce. As it relates to reviews on Glassdoor, they are independently operated, and are a voluntary forum for people to express themselves. We appreciate all forms of feedback, positive or negative, anonymous or self-identified, from all of our employees, including those who work in HR department. It is not true that HR people are made to write positive reviews. We use all forms of feedback, including this forum, to improve our work environment for our employees.

Pros

Really the only positive aspect of working in office in tampa is the employees.

Cons

The company doesn’t seem to care about their in-office employees. Over the years they have stopped giving any perks to working for their corp office - there used to be a sense of care with company picnics, raffles, warehouse furniture sales for employees, EOY bonuses, even holiday parties, but all that is gone now. They don’t even offer separate PTO and sick time, it’s all lumped in together. But wait, that’s not all. Last year an employee came dressed up as ICE for Halloween and HR didn’t do anything about it, which was shocking to so many employees but with the political leaning of the C suite, I can’t say that’s surprising at all. And finally, there have been a handful of layoffs over the past few years and one thing you should keep in mind is if you get laid off for any reason, no matter your tenure at the company you will only get one week of severance. There have been several ex employees who have worked for 5+ years and have had very little compensation for it. Save your time and go apply for a company who actually cares about the people who work for them.
