Pros
Benefits (insurance, potential bonus, PTO, etc), compassion, structure. Current employee for over 13 years. Enjoy the perks of being part of a large healthcare facility (various discounts). Most of management in the hospital settings try to give back to staff, whether through WOW cards, free drink ticket, gift certificates, company picnic, t-shirts, bags, etc.
Cons
Pay is better at other facilities. Pay is less at ambulatory offices. Example: RNs in an ambulatory office (doctor offices, urgent cares, etc) make less money per hour than the RNs in the hospital, even though the same skills are used. Ambulatory offices do not give back to staff nearly as much as hospitals. While working in both hospital and ambulatory settings are nice (worked in both), it would be nicer if staff across the board were treated the same in regards to pay and staff appreciation.
