Pros

Ability to form my own daily schedule for the work orders assigned to me. Other technicians in my region are enjoyable to work with when we have been brought together for special projects. Company van and tools are provided for technicians.

Cons

No pay increase for the last 2 years. Upper Management keeps saying that the company has cut our budget so no one gets raises yet Supervisors and Managers still receive an annual bonus. They have decided that they want to use the technicians for special projects (instead of paying a vendor) while asking us to travel throughout the state for weeks at a time but are not compensating us any more than our regular wage even though we are saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs for the projects. Excellent annual reviews mean nothing to Upper management. Middle management has no power to make any changes and everything seems to be dictated by Upper management. Pay and benefits are below average for similar jobs in my area.

Pros

The department is work from home.

Cons

They do not provide any equipment/laptops and make you pay for your own virus protection. Extreme micromanagement leaves employees with little autonomy and creates unnecessary stress. Frequent layoffs and high turnover. Inconsistent scheduling and long hours, including recurring 10-14 hour days yet ending the week with no overtime. Employees are blamed for slow business conditions they cannot control. Unpaid on-call expectations when the work load is low. Low compensation relative to workload. Management often complains about having to answer employee questions, creating an environment where people feel discouraged from seeking guidance or clarification. Employees are treated as replaceable rather than valued contributors.
