Pros
It is located in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The views from the office are great. The walks on the river are great to de-stress yourself. It is a job. They make donations to charities and causes, but it also reduces their tax rate at the end of the year.
Cons
I speak to the Corp office in downtown FTL. They just laid off people and now they are secretly laying people off. You come into work and then you no longer see your co-workers. You call them up and they tell you they were laid off. Management told us no more lays offs in IT. When they lay off people, they put that workload on someone in the department. Most employees are doing the work of 3 people/ functions without an increase in pay. You work all the time. Days/nights/weekends. you cant enjoy your vacations, because you always end up working. It is Hell. Salary equality is a big issue. White men are paid the premium. They have a gym here on site but you must be a Director or higher or have been with the company for 10 years. They took away the annual holiday party. No cell phones for anyone. Cell phones credits of $50 is given only to people who travel more than 50% of the time. Medical insurance is expensive!!! Even the lower rate options are expensive. They require you to visit a doctor to assess your current health (Blood pressure, BMI, tobacco use (blood work), Cholesterol, Sugar, and 1 more i cant remember) in order to get the lesser insurance premiums (which are still pricey). If you fail 2/5 your doctor has to put you on a program for a period of time. You send in that info and they will give you the reduced cost insurance. But you have to get re evaluated by the doctor and get a passing score to keep the reduced rate. 2 weeks vacation is all you get after 5 years it increases. They are NOT an EMPLOYEE-centric company. Older IT employees lack current skills and knowledge and often are the demise of the company. Constantly making "mistakes" in production and causing outages. They have a bad attitude and are not willing to play nice in the sand box. As a new employee coming in, if you do not give in to them, you will find it hard to get anything done. The CIO seems like a nice guy and intelligent, but he can not win the battle with the older IT employees. They run that department. There is constant fighting of employees pointing fingers and the good of the company is lost.
