Pros

Average pay, nice managers

Cons

Given the current Covid-19 outbreak, it has become apparent that Avenue5 does not care about their employees. If you are thinking of applying to work for this company- don’t. You are much better off working for one of their competitors like Greystar or Alliance. Avenue5’s lack of response to this global pandemic is very sad. They have refused to allow employees to work from home and are not closing their properties.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, and we are sorry to hear that you are in distress. We are as concerned about this public health situation as you are, and are taking steps to keep our associates, residents, guests, and others in the community that we serve healthy. Last week, we did announce that all properties would be moving to a virtual office setup, in which offices are closed to foot traffic, but associates continue provide service virtually (as we are considered an essential business, even in those areas that have shelter-in-place directives). In addition, for the past several weeks, we authorized more intense and frequent cleanings for properties, as well as more frequent supply orders for one-time-use gloves, wipes, hand sanitizers, tissue, and other items. Further, our medical benefits provide associates with multiple ways to access care should they not feel well, and paid sick leave program has been designed to provide ample support to associates should they need to recuperate from illnesses at home. We truly value our associates, and we regret to hear that you do not feel supported or cared for at this time. We will be continuing to monitor this situation closely in all of the markets that we serve, and are prepared to move to a remote service model at any property should the circumstances necessitate. We want you to feel empowered to take the necessary steps to protect your health, and if you have any remaining questions, concerns, or needs for additional support at this time, we urge you to check with your manager or with our human resources team at hr@avenue5.com. We appreciate you and are receptive to any further feedback that you have about how we can better care for you during this time.

Pros

Pros: Some great coworkers, opportunities to learn property maintenance, and the chance to build technical skills.

Cons

I worked for Avenue5 as a Maintenance Supervisor, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. The maintenance team worked hard to keep the property operating, but it often felt like employee concerns were ignored rather than addressed. Communication from management was inconsistent, and when issues were raised, there was little accountability or meaningful follow-up. Instead of feeling supported, I often felt that problems were shifted onto employees rather than resolved. One of the most frustrating aspects of my experience came at the end of my employment. There was a lack of communication regarding my separation, and I experienced significant difficulty trying to recover my personal tools and property. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue professionally through the appropriate channels, I received little assistance and was ultimately directed elsewhere rather than being offered a practical solution. The workplace culture, at least in my experience, did not foster trust or transparency. Employees who raised concerns often felt unheard, and morale suffered because of it. There are dedicated maintenance professionals and on-site employees who genuinely care about the residents and the communities they serve. My criticism is directed at the leadership and organizational support I experienced, not at those coworkers who worked hard every day. Cons: Poor communication, lack of accountability from leadership, inadequate employee support, inconsistent management practices, and unresolved concerns during and after employment.

We’re disappointed to hear this was your experience. This is not the culture we strive to create across Avenue5. We agree every associate deserves to feel respected and supported — from their first day to their last. We expect leaders to communicate and follow through. You raise important concerns, Please reach out to human resources so we can help resolve.
