Pros

- Good product training - Union (but not very strong at our location)

Cons

Not until 45 days into my position did my co-workers (not Managers) finally explain to me the commission structure. If I had been told about the way the commission works at Avis before starting, I would NOT have taken the position. As a Sales Professional, I expect to be paid for my performance. Avis has a structure where you are penalized for randomness. The structure for commission is as follows: you are to sell to customers coverages (Insurance,) upsells (get them into a nicer car,) and accessories (GPS, XM, etc.) Your target numer formula is as follows: extra revenue / # of rental days. What this means is that if a customer comes up to the counter, and has already purchased a 15 day rental and buys zero extra items, you have 15 big fat zeros into your monthly commission therefore bringing your $ down. This creates all sorts of issues: reps running away from the counter when they see customers with large suitcases (they know they are going to be using the car for a long time,) selective profiling (targeting only out-of-country customers b/c they are more likely to purchase coverages,) and a strong customer resentment knowing that in the end, servicing someone is COSTING YOU $ because they simply decide not to add $ to his/her own bill. Avis can spin this structure any way they want, but there is no getting away from the fact: if you do not sell something to a customer, the customer takes money away from you personally / not Avis.

Pros

Avis Budget Group is a phenomenal company that invests in their people through care, communication, and recognition. I believe that leadership is authentic and genuine taking the time to ensure alignment and buy-in at all levels of the organization. The company also invests heavily in innovation and is poised to continue making strides in becoming the best vehicle rental company in the world. I am excited to see the future of Avis Budget as we embark on a historic celebration of 80 years ! This is a great place to work with endless opportunities.

Cons

At this time I don’t feel that there are necessarily cons, I think the company is rapidly changing to remain competitive in highly competitive environment and as we grow we will continue to improve opportunities identified.

Pros

I've been with Avis Budget Group for 16 years, and one of the biggest reasons I've stayed is the opportunity for growth. I've had multiple promotions throughout my career because the company has consistently been willing to invest in people who work hard, take ownership, and deliver results. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting. I've had the chance to lead teams in multiple markets, work alongside talented leaders, and continually develop new skills. The business is fast-paced, but it gives you the opportunity to make decisions, solve problems, and have a real impact on both customers and employees. I've worked with leaders who genuinely care about developing talent, and many of the people I've worked with have built long-term careers here. If you're willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The company also continues to invest in new technology and operational improvements, making it easier to serve customers and support employees.

Cons

Like any customer-facing operation, there are busy periods that can be demanding, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. Success requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. The pace isn't for everyone, but for people who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, and working in an environment where every day is different, those challenges become opportunities to learn and grow.
