Pros

Usually wearing whatever I wanted. Casual dress code. Sometimes getting to leave early, because I could not stand being there.

Cons

Being micro-managed in a call center environment by people who truly don't care about the actual employees. During orientation, a fellow new-hire asked how often new-hire classes would occur. The trainer stated, "we just wait for natural attrition to occur." That was red flag #1. They do nothing to retain employees and constantly rotate them out, like a revolving door. In the call center they STEAL your lunch breaks! Meaning we were told from day 1 that we get a 45-minute lunch break. But on the floor, they do mandatory overtime with NO notice and reduce your lunch to 30 minutes. With no notice, you can't prepare to bring a lunch, the in-building cafe is already closed, and you have to scramble to find lunch elsewhere, BUT then don't have time to actually EAT lunch. The purpose of a break is to have a moment to de-stress & decompress, but ABG does NOT care about the employee's well-being, mental or otherwise. Outdated policies, procedures, software, & equipment. Forcing us to give customers the run-around, telling us to resolve the call, yet not providing us with the ability to adequately do so. We literally had to lie to customers, just to "get them off the line & reduce handle time". Time and time again, the SAME customer ended up back on my line with no resolution. And when I actually took the time to professionally get that resolution, I was reprimanded about excessive handle time. ABG, if you don't want us to OWN & resolve the call, then don't send them to us! They LITERALLY have employees lying to the customers, which creates a negative experience for both the employee & the caller.

Pros

I've been with Avis Budget Group for 16 years, and one of the biggest reasons I've stayed is the opportunity for growth. I've had multiple promotions throughout my career because the company has consistently been willing to invest in people who work hard, take ownership, and deliver results. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting. I've had the chance to lead teams in multiple markets, work alongside talented leaders, and continually develop new skills. The business is fast-paced, but it gives you the opportunity to make decisions, solve problems, and have a real impact on both customers and employees. I've worked with leaders who genuinely care about developing talent, and many of the people I've worked with have built long-term careers here. If you're willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The company also continues to invest in new technology and operational improvements, making it easier to serve customers and support employees.

Cons

Like any customer-facing operation, there are busy periods that can be demanding, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. Success requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. The pace isn't for everyone, but for people who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, and working in an environment where every day is different, those challenges become opportunities to learn and grow.
