* my immediate team is great and there is a lot of trust/open communication. * depending on which group you are in, you can have a good work-life balance. * internal IT team is stellar and really friendly. * overall, the people here are really friendly. * good medical benefits
Cons
* work from home is frowned upon and forget about being promoted if you WFH full-time, although you can WFH if you have a good reason. * little chance to work with the latest technologies (for example, engineering team upgraded to Oracle 11 not that long ago) and there is a fear of becoming obsolete amongst some staff * technical folks are managed by non-technical people which is really frustrating since the managers are the ones dictating timelines and deciding on annual increases. When the non-technical managers are in meetings, they usually serve very little value and rarely try to find a solution when faced with an issue. Instead, they forward the issue to an engineer/web dev for them to deal with. * no real career growth (depending on the team that you're in). There are a few groups that have promoted people while others are not. Depends on your manager. There is no company standard on how someone is promoted. Some people were promoted to manager when they really shouldn't have been promoted (not qualified to manage people). * some managers are only focused on themselves rather than helping their team grow their careers. * teams are outgrowing their space and it can get really noisy and difficult to concentrate, but leadership cannot relate when you mention this is a productivity problem since they are in meetings all day. * it can sometimes feel like a college dorm when people play music openly on their computer speakers when others are on the phone making a sales call or trying to focus on getting work done. * HR is most unapproachable I've dealt with so far and talk about or make gestures regarding other employees when they think no one is looking. * leadership training only offered to managers * no bonuses for regular staff (I heard these were only for managers) * lots of politics within most groups. It is not a flat hierarchy. * there does not seem to be trust between and within certain groups * hardworking staff do not seem to be valued -- you really have to toot your own horn here for management to know how valuable you are. * I was hired with a group of other people and majority of them have already left. * no 401k matching
