BSI Response

We greatly appreciate the opportunity to share the special operating distinction that BSI holds as a Royal Charter Company. You are correct that BSI’s profits do not go to shareholders but rather they are reinvested back into the business. As it has no share capital, BSI is what is termed a ‘non-profit distributing company’. [Read more about our governance framework, here.] At the same time, BSI is a private company. We believe in being transparent and show our financials as would a public, for profit, company. As most of our competitors are “for profit” companies we must be innovative to grow and be efficient to stay competitive in the market place and maintain our valued customers. We are focused on making BSI a great place to work, and we are doing this through reinvesting in new initiatives that will benefit our clients, our stakeholders, and our people. Embedding excellence to improve business performance is at the heart of what we do at BSI and the passion and expertise of our people are of the utmost importance in the delivery of this. Our people are our most valuable asset and make BSI what it is today. Feedback and employee engagement is critical in this endeavor. Thank you for your comments.
