We often like to say we are an established start up – still in growth mode, yet with over fifteen years since Backstop was founded there are inevitably some areas of our platform that need work. It’s a little like owning a house that is in need of renovation in some areas while others have stood the test of time or have been improved through investment along the way. Our tech stack is evolving, and we are also investing heavily in our core platform and working with leading cloud technologies, frameworks, and architectures such as React, MongoDB, container-based microservices and real-time data pipelines, and machine learning services from AWS. As for hiring, the only aspect we’ve changed about our process over the years is to find people who are not just smart and a cultural fit, but who are also culturally additive and aligned with building great products for people who most want to buy them.
