Pros
I have gained a variety of transferable skills, mostly computer-based. The food service industry is quite niche, so opportunities might be limited. However, if you enjoy this field, this place could be a great fit for you. The smaller branches at this company also make it easier to create a sense of community.
Cons
I repeatedly asked for a raise every year, and after working for the company for five years, I successfully obtained two raises. However, I discovered that I was making less than some new hires and never had a manager engage in a meaningful conversation about why. I experienced repeated microaggressions from a colleague who enjoyed belittling me in front of others, both online and in in-person meetings. When I was suffering from stress-induced sickness, I was told to "keep going or just quit." Complaints made about management to corporate were met with little to no visible action or follow-up. There is no HR on-site for every location except the main office and maybe one other. My last manager repeatedly bullied me in front of others, and with no support from my team, I left. While there are some good people at this company, if you are a BIPOC, stay away. There are other entry-level jobs in this industry that will treat you with kindness, respect, and pay you what you are worth.
