Is this your company?

Relaxed and easy going but this comes at a price... - Robotics Engineer Bastian Solutions Employee Review

Pros

Very relaxed work environment. As long as your getting your stuff done on time management will leave you alone and not worry too much about what time you get to work or that you took a long lunch. Great opportunity to work for a company out of college and get training and experience for future endeavors.

Cons

Very high turn over rate. Average engineer is 2 years out of college or less and typical employment lasts about 2 years or less. Senior management states there will be a 10% salary bonus based on project success but no one has ever come close to making this number (this is a very common complaint amongst employees). They are a very cost conscious company who does whatever it takes to save as much money as possible. During the summer of 2012 the office personnel went the entire summer without AC and were told to bring fans because they didn't want to pay to have the AC unit fixed. Outside temps were in the mid 90s.

Pros

Good for gaining experience Free Snacks Gain one more day of vacation each year you work there

Cons

Goodness, the nepotism and favoritism of this place is crazy. CEO's daughter is allowed to work remote from Michigan while the rest of her team is forced to be in the office in Carmel. Management is a good old boys club. Has the attitude that you should be available 24-7 for work or overtime compensation or flex time. When challenged they said "That's what I had to do back in the day" like a typical boomer. Slowly has rolled back all benefits and perks of being in person in the office. I once had a dentist appointment and was asked if I cpuld just take it on my lunch break instead of working from home for the afternoon and taking it right after work. At times feels like a sitcom for a cookie cutter toxic office
