Pros

- Great company culture, especially in the early days of my tenure. - Initial support from management helped me drive significant improvements contributing to measurable cost savings. - Opportunities to work on challenging and impactful projects.

Cons

Cons: Unfortunately, my experience took a negative turn after my first year. I accepted a role that I was told would offer room for growth, but as time went on, it became clear that the promised support and resources were never provided. Key issues included: 1. Lack of Training and Feedback: Despite numerous requests, I was denied essential learning opportunities (e.g., PMP training, coding resources) that would have been critical for my success in a more technical role. Feedback, when provided, was often contradictory, making it difficult to know how I was truly performing. 2. Insufficient Resources: I was tasked with complex certifications and integrations without QA support or a clear roadmap from senior developers. I put in the hours—teaching myself various programming resources—to meet the project’s demands, yet I was never given the necessary resources or guidance to succeed long-term. 3. Conflicting Communication from Management: My manager, who had no prior experience in the payments industry, frequently expressed frustration over the complexity of our project. Yet these challenges were never reflected in my feedback sessions. Throughout my time in this role, I was never informed of any issues with my performance, professionalism, or delivery. My one-on-one meetings with my manager were often brief and sometimes rescheduled multiple times. When they did take place, I received no negative feedback or concerns, only reassurances that my performance met or exceeded expectations. Given this, you can imagine my shock when, just days after reaching a significant project milestone, I was let go—without the courtesy of a write-up, performance plan, or even a conversation about considering other options. I received no warning, no support in transitioning to a different role, and no indication that my job was at risk. This experience fundamentally changed my perspective on the company and its commitment to employee well-being. I was left feeling unsupported and hurt by the lack of empathy from a leadership team that repeatedly emphasized how much they "cared about my well-being." With this, I am left with a lasting sense of disillusionment about my experience at Basys. At the end of the day… I enjoyed my time at Basys in the beginning, and the company culture is excellent. However, if you find yourself in a high-pressure project, especially as a junior employee, be prepared for the possibility of being used as a scapegoat if things go wrong. Sadly, that's what happened in my case.
