Pros
Good supports in place for clinical and administrative duties. Good benefits package. Flexible schedule. Ongoing training and professional development.
Cons
Excessive caseload size for BCBAs which deteriorates quality of service for client and quality of life for supervisors. Workload not manageable in 40 hour work week which usually means working longer hours or taking work home. BCBAs are unlikely to use up all PTO due to amount of work required, which also piles up and makes time off far less appealing. Bureaucratic system can make it time-consuming or difficult to accomplish even simple tasks. No performance-based incentive system for BCBAs. Even when center is at full capacity, referring clients elsewhere is discouraged. Supervisors are required to do marketing events regularly. Even when serving clients that engage in severe challenging behaviors, staff do not have crisis management training.
