Pros
Employee discounts is great. Double discount days make you somewhat like the place more. It even work with coupons and clearance. Things go on sale fast. Schedule is really flexible so you can go to school and/or have a 2nd job.
Cons
There no job advancement they refuse to even hire for full time. Only part time I'm sure it's because they do not want to pay for insurance. Management does not care about you. They talk to you any kind of way, belittling and being condescending. They treat you like slaves. Pressure on opening credits and sales goals is a hassle. They are people pleasers and don't know how to refuse a fraudulent transaction, yet always complains about things that we need to look out for. The store is always short staffed. I remember having to cover home, plus size, petites, and intimates all at once (since they are all on the same floor) and customers kept complaining. I felt so depressed that day because satisfying customers is a top priority and when I had to tell customers I don't know how to fit a bra or this isn't my area because the schedule is always screwed up and they complain. You would think operations team job is to change signs to the appropriate price points before the store open or before the store close but the associates have to do it because the signs are always wrong! Had a customer say they will never shop there again because of how management treat the employees leaving us short staff and said this is nothing more than a Target and doesn't belong in an upscale mall like Phipps Plaza. I used to love working at Belk but slowly I started to dread going and eventually I just left like plenty of other great employes.
