Pros
Double employee discounts were nice if you needed clothes. Work environment all depended on the managers and the store manager who ran the show. Some store managers can keep everyone in line while others can't.
Cons
Many sales managers were lazy and thought that all they were paid to do was to sit around all day. They really are supposed to lead their departments and assist in the merchandising and floor moves for them. With the new company, they cut all hourly full timers to part time without advanced warning. I went from full time with 30-40 hours per week and benefits to 15-20 hours per week with no benefits. I was given two options: take part time or quit. So I quit. And for the record, i did my job really well. I was one of the top people in my position, so this wasn't due to performance or anything. It was all because Belk wanted to save some extra money by not having to pay benefits for their employees.
