Very mixed - Anonymous employee Belk Employee Review

Seems the only way anyone ever gets fired is stealing. And sometimes that is just using a coupon not designated for that employee. But being late, not working, calling out often which makes the day difficult for others, an HR that no one wants to talk to because of her vindictive and unhelpful attitude - none of those things will get you fired. Also, understaffing when the company claims to value providing an excellent experience for the customer. And not wanting to spend money for maintainance of a basic like cleaning the carpet. They chose a lite tan color carpet which after 5 years is looking very tired and stained but the person who can approve cleaning apparently thinks this is OK. This is the same person who said to me we needed to keep expenses under control so he would get a bonus and be able to take his grandchildren on vacation. Not much concern there for the front line employees who had their wages reduced to minimum and worry about how to eat!!
