Pros
Hired me without recent job history. For that I will always be grateful because it put me back in the work place. Made genuine friendships. Many employees really want to do well for the company. Built in clientele. Convenient location. Nice discounts for employees. Good insurance if you make it a year to full time. I loved my last general manager but the internal structure is broken.
Cons
Low starting pay. Does not offer a living wage. Slow to give raises or promote. This business was known for customer service and they have thrown out every single service that made them famous. It looks like a swap meet now. Absolutely no back-up of for employees from management when a customer complains. We tell them something isn't possible, a manager comes by and completely disregards the policies and makes the employee look like an idiot. Managers can and have been verbally abusive to employees in from of the clients with no repercussion. Bullying is common. Favoritism is rampant. Some people work very hard, others go to lunch with managers and get the credit. Almost no practical training in your your dept. You watch a few video's and then are thrown into the fire and admonished if you don't know everything right off the bat.
