Pros
The company is moving in the right direction. The leadership is moving in strides to improve the business in a way that provides value to the customer, both in eCommerce and in the store. Salaries are competitive. The people with whom you work are intelligent and driven to do good work, for the most part. No Place is perfect. One good thing though is the office is not located in the center of Uptown! Oh, and as we get closer to holidays, we have parties in the Atrium. There’s a Starbucks in the Atrium too! That’s perfect for IT professionals, or just to go have some coffee with a friend.
Cons
The medical benefits are not that great. The Blue Cross & Blue Shield high-deductible plans can be a financial challenge for families who have a child with medical needs. You cannot really work remotely; and let’s say, if you do, you might feel guilty doing so, as if it’s frowned upon. Your experience in the office truly depends upon the team in which you find yourself. There ARE teams that literally have no intention of completing their work with excellence, but there are also teams that are wonderful to work with. More than anything else, it is the culture that will push you away to another company. You can spend years inside the walls of the company, but never truly know anyone beyond the superficial hello because it’s all about “work, work, work”. And there really is no real sense that you could ever get ahead on projects because if you do, the next project just gets bumped up in time.
