Pros
As a fast-paced work environment based on customer satisfaction, Belk provides a wide variety of benefits to both it's clientele and employees-- with the right people in place. I love this job. The people I've met, the lessons I've learned, the goals I've achieved... They're not things I take lightly. This job won't give you a sizable 401K or 3 different vacation homes, but it'll definitely commit to you if you commit to it.
Cons
-MAJOR, major lack of communication. I'm sure it differs from store to store, but both the Sales and Operational managers always seem to be running in circles after each other, trying to figure out what the other needs. -Lack of enforcement of company policies. Disregarding a company-directed floorplan? Completely ignored. Blatantly ignoring a customer ready to check out? Nothing. I get that not everything can be enforced, and not every mistake can, or even NEEDS to be corrected. But when an associate neither shows up for their shift nor calls and alerts the MOD of their absence, something has to be done. This happened twice in a row, and absolutely nothing was done. Drives. Me. Crazy.
