Pros
Belk is a good company to work for. They try really hard to listen to employee criticism. They pay well. It's a good environment (everyone I work with gets along very well, all associates are good friends). They are typically willing to work with associates about scheduling. Lower level management is very helpful, involved with, and concerned about their associates. Full time associates get at least 2 days off a week and can only close 2 nights a week.
Cons
Larger Belk stores have a very competitive environment. Upper-level management will sometimes randomly change your schedule, overrides and deny your days-off requests, etc. You have to ask for days off at least 23 days in advance which is very difficult for students, parents, etc. There is not a predictable schedule, which makes planning things very difficult (I recommend changing your availability for at least one day a week to not being available that morning so that you always have at least one morning that you know you can schedule appointments). Part time has no required days off (whereas full time has at least 2 days off a week). Part time also has no limit on how many nights a week you can close (whereas full time can only close twice a week). Part time works basically only nights and weekends (difficult for students). You can't even submit a request for days off in November and December which is a little ridiculous (especially for students that have exams in December).
