Pros

Gratis (free product allowance) as an Estee Lauder representative, samples, enjoyable customers, learning about the product and communicating product knowledge, makeup artist events, Estee Lauder executive management are awesome!

Cons

Belk work schedule, lack of flexibility, not family friendly, does not promote from within, stressed and frazzled store level management always seem to be desperately fighting for their professional lives, expectation of selling store credit card with 35% APR to valued customers, expectation of getting email addresses, app downloads, managers that are unhelpful, overworked with nasty attitude, constant pre-selling and sales promotions, so many vacation blackout periods, need to have any schedule request in 21 days in advance, lack of walk in business makes it difficult to build a clientele- veteran beauty consultants jealously guard "their clients" (which is literally anyone who bought anything from them ever), expectation of giving sales credit to others even when they're off work or on vacation, predatory environment as a result of totally desperate sales consultants who are hanging on to department store beauty as if their lives depended on it

Pros

I loved my job. I’m met so many wonderful people. And the associates couldn’t have been better.

Cons

I hurt myself and had to have surgery, and I was on Worker’s Comp. with limited availability. Because hours were short in operations, they made up this crazy position and wanted me to be ”lead” of the markdown team. I knew that meant for the most part to do go backs. I told them I wasn’t allowed to be on my feet that long and so she said they couldn’t accommodate me and I had to leave. And then the manager had the nerve to call their workers comp and told them I wasn’t coming into work. The management at that time was horrible. But there was a time when I first started working there that to store manager, and the assistant manager were wonderful. We were all so sad they left, but it didn’t take this new manager that I was talking about any time at all to lose almost the entire store associates.
