Pros

-Employee discounts: 20% or 30% if you are awarded a Pacesetter title. Double discount days several times a year, where your employee discount combines with sales and additional discounts. At times, you actually get 20% employee discount + 20% coupon + sale prices. -Lots of nice employees. -Repeat, familiar, and loyal customers. -Work is rewarding at times

Cons

Depends on store management: -Lazy sales management -Lazy store managers who prefer to dictate rather than lead. -Store managers try too hard to hide problems from corporate when corporate really needs to see the problems first hand. Instead, store managers are made aware of all corporate visits days beforehand, which gives store managers time to sweep problem under the rug. Corporate then comes, isn't aware of issues, and leaves thinking all is ok. Nothing ever gets fixed. -Some store managers work their executive employees beyond 60hrs/wk and demand unrealistic work goals (referring to operations goals). -Severe lack of employees. Often to the point where departments can be without an associate for half a day. -A large store can have only 1 visual associate who takes care of the entire store when 2 or 3 associates are clearly necessary. This person is just a visual associate on paper and by pay, but does the work of 2 or 3 people, and should be compensated at an executive level. As a corporation: -Many coupons have too many exclusions and are practically useless in some stores (because of brands offered). These coupons only end up upsetting customers and leave the stores in a helpless position. -Lack of communication between corporate and stores. -Some good employees who work hard are severely underpaid.

Pros

I loved my job. I’m met so many wonderful people. And the associates couldn’t have been better.

Cons

I hurt myself and had to have surgery, and I was on Worker’s Comp. with limited availability. Because hours were short in operations, they made up this crazy position and wanted me to be ”lead” of the markdown team. I knew that meant for the most part to do go backs. I told them I wasn’t allowed to be on my feet that long and so she said they couldn’t accommodate me and I had to leave. And then the manager had the nerve to call their workers comp and told them I wasn’t coming into work. The management at that time was horrible. But there was a time when I first started working there that to store manager, and the assistant manager were wonderful. We were all so sad they left, but it didn’t take this new manager that I was talking about any time at all to lose almost the entire store associates.
