Pros

Gensuite is a great place to learn the ropes and meet with employees at large corporations. As a customer support lead you will become accustomed to handling frustrated customers on a frequent basis. In addition you will learn time management skills and learn how to multi-task several different priorities with varying deadlines and criticality. One of the most valuable skills I learned with Gensuite was gaining the experience in overseeing and leading projects through the full project lifecycle from initial requirement gathering to formal scoping, drafting the proposal, leading the project through development, testing, release, and even billing (yes, you will be doing billing with this job). Another useful tool that you will learn is the ability to converse with extremely incompetent support associates all over the globe. Standards at Gensuite are not the same throughout the globe so if you are North America based you will learn to cope with different levels of quality from other global locations that have the same position title as you. I met a lot of wonderful people while working with Gensuite on a personal level, but their overall effectiveness in the professional environment leaves a lot to be desired.

Cons

The lack of defined roles and metrics to gauge effectiveness in the position is the largest con in my opinion. Without roles being defined for the various positions within the company it makes defining metrics to track performance completely pointless. Management cares very much for the bottom line and not nearly enough about their employees, which leads to reviews being conducted very haphazardly or not at all. Promotions and raises seem to be completely based on the time spent within the company instead of based on overall performance or effectiveness at your job. This has led to a management team that has just been at the company for a long time and not actually good at managing people. The current managment staff is extremely out of touch with the duties of their direct reports and this has led to a group of people that spend more time looking at dollars and cents for opportunities and less time actually managing. Accountability is sorely lacking at the Associate level as well as in the Director level. The lack of accountability at the Associate level has led to new employees at Gensuite learning very little and creating a "pass the buck" mentality. The lack of accountability at the Director level has left the company with a senior management team that is completely out of the loop on how the businesses within their portfolio are being run. Work/Life balance is non-existent with 45 - 50 hour work weeks being typical with no reward or recognition. It is also a common practice to travel on weekends without time in lieu being given. Based on discussions I've had with other employees I've determined that initial compensation seems to be fair for entry level positions, however Gensuite does a poor job in realigning salaries senior positions based on comparable wages within the industry. Ethics is another sore spot at Gensuite. You will typically be promised promotions, rewards, bonsuses and these will not be given. In addition you will be asked to lie to customers and quite a fair amount of price gouging takes place.

Pros

Technology/product was ok, able to do customizations

Cons

Toxic work culture, period. Leadership demanded so much and were condescending that affected employee morale. There were only a couple managers that were great to work with. It was very micromanaging that you had to use a certain font style and color for your emails. They change the company name every few years and focus on non-important items. It’s sad because the company could be good with different leadership. Work life balance is also a struggle. Your mental health can take a beating.
