Terribly managed and overworked - Senior Program Manager Blue Shield Of California Employee Review

Pros

Salary and benefits are competitive but ironically, you’ll pay a high premium for the health benefits.

Cons

Uneven treatment by managers: high performers are overworked while others slack off. If you check the job postings, you’ll see that turnover and vacancies are high because the good ones burn out and leave within a few years.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We decreased the cost of employee benefits like premiums and added new benefits for all employees in 2019. You can also lower the cost of your benefits by participating in our Wellvolution program. You will see a lot of job openings at Blue Shield and that it because we are expanding our workforce to accommodate a changing healthcare landscape. Also, we strive to create an environment that allows for work-life balance. We would like to bring some resolution to your concerns. You can reach out to us at marie.romero@blueshieldca.com.

Pros

Limited knowledge transfer and onboarding support for new team members. New hires are often expected to figure things out with minimal guidance. Workplace politics can sometimes impact collaboration and decision-making. Managers may not always be actively involved in supporting team members or addressing concerns. Full-time employees are occasionally treated differently than contractors, creating an uneven work environment. Documentation and process knowledge sharing could be improved. Work culture can be stressful at times, leading to challenges with work-life balance and employee morale.

Cons

Good exposure to projects and technologies. Opportunity to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
