Pros

They have a great website with all kinds of moral platitudes and big promises for change. The wording is very inspiring. They use really expensive hand soap because the CEO’s don’t understand budgeting. Oh yeah and they have free snacks, or at least there used to be.

Cons

Their “corporate culture” does not translate into real life. The management has the same old baby boomer mentality we’re all used to. Management is snotty, has favorites, and it’s their way or the highway. They will fire you for legitimately no reason. I was hired, by Bond, away from a job I’d been at for two years. They had me work Christmas Eve and New Years Day, then fired me citing I wasn’t a good “cultural fit.” No idea what that means and wasn’t offered any details. Oh yeah and they try to say you’ll get a $5k signing bonus but good luck with that. I think they already lowered it to $1k. I was glad to go because the general atmosphere there is just unpleasant to work; it’s a cold and alienating environment, which is ironic since they will tell you they’re all about team work. If you’re a “nurse” (licensed OR unlicensed tech), be prepared to do all the work on the client side, run your own appointments, present estimates, do exams and TPR by yourself, plus collecting samples from animals with assistants who are untrained. You will also be expected to write all the medical records. They’re short staffed, “fear free,” but nobody is on the same page in terms of protocol for anything. Techs always work separate from each other, which I found to be incredibly isolating and lonely. Doctors won’t help you out much either, unless you’re lucky enough to work with one of the few nice ones. On Christmas Eve, one of the CEOs showed up an hour before closing and gave us all a pop quiz on math - happy holidays! Bond would do well to realize that the veterinary world in NYC is very small, and when techs are treated badly, it won’t stay a secret for very long.

Bond Vet Response
6y
We’re sorry that things did not work out for you with us, at Bond Vet. We pride ourselves in giving all team members a fair shot to prove themselves as part of a positive movement and change in the veterinary industry, but unfortunately, not everyone is the right fit for our organization. We understand being let go is a difficult situation to go through. To clarify a few things you commented on: Yes, we spend on appropriate medical grade hand soap for our team. We also provide full meals every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and statutory holidays, along with 1.5x pay. We push our team to learn and grow and among other things, keep up with our dosing calculations, which are mathematical questions. We deal with medicine and lives every day, and owe it to our patients to stay sharp with our skills. We empower our nurses to lead appointments from start to finish and our hope is to one day lead the charge on the Veterinary Nurse Practitioner education to provide additional growth opportunities for veterinary technicians. We work hard to create self-sufficient, strong and smart Veterinary Nurses and are very proud of the team in this regard. We do wish you well and hope you have great success in your career!

Pros

The best part about working here is definitely the people and the culture. Management really invests in your growth with great learning opportunities and hands-on CE.

Cons

Because the team is small, everyone is super accessible and response times are quick—but actual backend action and implementation can feel depressingly slow.

Pros

There were pros when I initially started but those went away once they pulled the guy from City MD.

Cons

ZERO communication of any sort. Zero planning. Zero idea on how to properly run a business. No support from marketing, senior leadership team that feels like they make decisions in the moment without a thought of how this will affect the staff. Closed an entire travel department down without thinking that the clinic staff would need training. They just closed an entire clinic with zero warning. Zero notice. Not a word. Staff? Who thinks about them....
