Cons
There is little to no room for elevation. You can potentially be elevated to Lead Care Coordinator of your assigned clinic, but that's about it. HQ is very full and almost no opportunities to get your foot in the door. Even if you get there, there's constant layoffs because most funding goes to opening more clinics vs retaining staff. Long days, lunch block is for an hour but unless you have someone to cover the front for the whole hour, front desk only really gets 30 unpaid minutes from that. You will also have to rely on your clinic to maybe get you two 15 minutes paid breaks you are entitled to, but most of the time that is not the case. You WILL need to do a lot of emotional and physical labor for your team. Doctors can be very moody, and in most cases will refuse to do anything but see their appointments or sign what they need to sign. Culture generally is very negative, but the severity is clinic dependent. Some teams mesh better than others, very cliquey. You WILL constantly be tasked with things outside of your job description. While you can designate these tasks to other people, Care Coordinators tend to be the dumping ground for people who can't be bothered to put in effort to find who to actually direct them to. You WILL be asked to be rerouted, whether you like it or not, to other locations when their staff calls out. They will cover cost of transportation, but this can be anywhere across NYC. No, they don't care that you said you wouldn't like that during your interview. No, they don't care that you live in Brooklyn and Queens is too far from you. You WILL have to be responsible for cleaning the clinic at the end of the day. Your other team members do play their part, but due to budget cuts, cleaning crews have been phased out.
