Pros

• Great experience for mental health, you will see a lot of different disorders • Great PTO plan • Affordable medical/dental/vision plans • IP Behavioral Health manager is open to new ideas, and willing to work with you • Shadow 10 shifts before starting

Cons

• If they are short staffed for the next shift, you have to stay and work a double • Multiple calls to come in and work on your days off --- 2/3 times per day • Low base pay • 8-hour shifts --- only unit in whole hospital • Miscommunication between staff --- this is mainly due to 8-hour shifts, since change of shift happens three times a day • Very high turn over rate • Offers very few sick days --- call in 6 times and your fired • Expected to run group therapy with very little training in this area • Patients get treated more like prisoners, rather than patients • Some nurses can be rude to staff and patients, and aren't willing to help when needed

Pros

Good health benefits and good dental benefits for the money paid out. Loved that BCH waived copays for employees and their families when we saw BCH providers.

Cons

Upper management was often dismissive and uncaring. Other managers in my group cared more about their budgets than their employees. I was an outcast as I really did care about my employees and wanted to make sure they knew that. Some of the providers that worked there were bullies. I was often bullied by several of the providers in that practice and once was accused of lying about an illness and the reason that I was not in the clinic that day. Very nosey too, always wanting me to give them information on why a staff member was out and when they would be returning, which was a violation to the staff’s medical privacy. Several of the providers were in a competition with each other to see how many patients they could see in a day regardless of how good patient care was.
