Pros

BCH hospital is a beautiful new campus. The benefits were decent and most of the nurses and staff were nice people to patients and others.

Cons

The pay was terrible for the amount of labor they wanted from me. I think they have increased the pay a bit since I was there. the unit was constantly under-staffed and so I did the work 2 or 3 PCAs would normally do, with sometimes over ten patients assigned to me. Not all staff were kind or respectful to the often overworked aides though other units did seem better. It's no fun to work your butt off for low pay and have a nurses constantly critique and complain about random weird stuff that only they care about and isn't part of your job. If you're looking to work on this unit ask them about turn over of aides, if it is high then there is a reason for it, apply to another unit. If you do night shift know that they expect you to complete trainings during the day which means you will have to switch your sleeping schedule at least a few times a month which could mess with your health.

Pros

Good health benefits and good dental benefits for the money paid out. Loved that BCH waived copays for employees and their families when we saw BCH providers.

Cons

Upper management was often dismissive and uncaring. Other managers in my group cared more about their budgets than their employees. I was an outcast as I really did care about my employees and wanted to make sure they knew that. Some of the providers that worked there were bullies. I was often bullied by several of the providers in that practice and once was accused of lying about an illness and the reason that I was not in the clinic that day. Very nosey too, always wanting me to give them information on why a staff member was out and when they would be returning, which was a violation to the staff’s medical privacy. Several of the providers were in a competition with each other to see how many patients they could see in a day regardless of how good patient care was.
