Pros

The culture at BCH related to other hospitals is amazing. They offer health and wellness activities, such as massage, yoga, sound baths, and accupuncture, which is a plus. There are so many perks and everyone who I work with is so incredibly kind. As a new grad I decided on this new grad program because it was so supportive, with 7 weeks of orientation and time to grow, many classes throughout the course of a year, and so many mentors who are available and really want to help. My manager is great, she listens to my concerns and makes changes, and there is always candy on the unit.

Cons

The only cons are pay is not as competitive as other hospitals, which is a huge bummer. Also scheduling is difficult and the scheduling system and policy should be updated. Scheduling requires one weekend every 3 weeks which is difficult for many people with families. In addition you self schedule so far out in advance that many times I am scrambling to change my schedule to fit in an event.

Pros

Good health benefits and good dental benefits for the money paid out. Loved that BCH waived copays for employees and their families when we saw BCH providers.

Cons

Upper management was often dismissive and uncaring. Other managers in my group cared more about their budgets than their employees. I was an outcast as I really did care about my employees and wanted to make sure they knew that. Some of the providers that worked there were bullies. I was often bullied by several of the providers in that practice and once was accused of lying about an illness and the reason that I was not in the clinic that day. Very nosey too, always wanting me to give them information on why a staff member was out and when they would be returning, which was a violation to the staff’s medical privacy. Several of the providers were in a competition with each other to see how many patients they could see in a day regardless of how good patient care was.
