Pros
The building location was convenient and in a great part of town to explore new restaurants over lunch and see events at the square. The amount of vacation time that could be accumulated was also a plus.
Cons
It is challenging to put my experience at Brandman into words. It is the most negative work experience I have ever had. The atmosphere and culture of the center continued to be an issue and struggle. Management had many issues properly managing and supporting the employees. The job was supposed to focus on coaching students for success, but the person responsible for training the coaches lacked the skills needed to train properly and management continued to blame the coaches for not picking up these skills rather than the trainer. It was a constant atmosphere of condescension and elitism with employees always on edge for fear of being written up for smiling at the wrong time or saying anything not overly positive. Management continues to mention growth opportunities but these are limited. Often these opportunities for growth and promotions are offered to individuals who come from Inside Track, regardless of the experience of the other employees who have been there longer. The employees who thrived in this position did not think for themselves and were very agreeable with everything management suggests. Otherwise, you will be closely monitored by other coaches and management and pulled in at the slightest offense. Many employees experience weight change, hair loss, depression, anxiety - all after working at Brandman. It's a hostile work environment based on favoritism and narcissism and the HR department does not offer any help.
