Pros
The Pay/benefits - while not competitive with fintech peers, is still solid. HR begrudgingly stepping up to the plate...as unlimited time off, an expanded bonus structure, and new pay grades were brought in just in the past year. The work - at least in finance, is intellectually stimulating and highly receptive to the initiative and feedback of even the most junior people. Leaders at the junior manager, middle/VP level do a great job of having their ear to the street and frequently promote the work of junior folks who want to help the business grow. The culture - I was not here before the current WFH paradigm, but it seems like the "hybrid" work model has been seamlessly implemented, and the finance team is totally at home with this new, modern way of the workplace. The opportunities - There is plenty of work to go around, with no two deals alike, and finance is always kept on its toes. . Individual and small-group initiatives on process improvement are swiftly indulged.
Cons
The pay/benefits - as stated in the "pros", not competitive with market peers such as Affirm, Square, klarna et al. Company inexplicably had a hiring freeze in place for much of 2021 (many are unsure if its been lifted), even with extremely lofty growth projections in place. It will not take much for the finance org in particular to reach a state of chronic understaffing. The work - as outstanding as the people in the finance/CFO org are, from a corp dev POV there are too many high profile losses and not enough wins. Experience with deals so far does not inspire confidence in Bread's capability to meaningfully compete with the Affirm's of the world, much less the Citi’s and Barclay’s. The opportunities - jury out on what mobility and cross-training will look like as the deal pipeline (hopefully) fills up following rebrand. Misc - Employee tech a bad joke; general approach is stuck in the 2010's. Computers given to associates are woefully inadequate, and even if they work great, issues are seldom dealt with in timely fashion. Nonexistent flexibility in the hardware acquisition process.
