Pros

Training: 2 weeks worth of Orientation and generalized training prior (First aid, CPR, etc.) to starting work. Tuition reimbursement and increase in pay for trainings you take. Flexible hours: 8am - 4pm, 3pm - 10pm, 10pm - 9am Great hours if you are a student Room for promotion within the organization: specific to residential sites. You get your birthday off.

Cons

Workplace safety: You may have to deal with extremely behavioral and aggressive individuals that may put your life in danger, and then report to work the next day as if it never happened. Awards: For doing well at your job, you get a sticker. Just like a grade school student would. Employees get recognition once a year for time spent in the organization. Other than that, Employees aren't recognized for their actions unless its a sticker. Training: No specific training according to your job title once on the job. Pay scale: Developmental Specialists (Teachers) and Program Directors (Managers) both require a Bachelors Degree in Human Services or a related field and 1 - 2 years of experience in the field. Developmental Specialists get paid at least $20,000 less a year than a program director. Workplace Culture: As with most organizations that have a high turn over rating, this organization will hire any individual to fill a position as long as they meet minimum qualifications.

Pros

Office environment is often very helpful and calm. Everybody can (help) do anybody’s job, as long as communication is clear. Employees are always the best part of the day, they are friendly, personable, and attentive.

Cons

Organization is converting into modern technology, some bits and pieces are still pen and paper. But Leadership is actively converting to technological environment.
