Pros

Wide variety of schedules Work Events are a blast Compensation is good.

Cons

New Management in certain departments such as back up care. Cliques and gossipy behavior. Workplace bullying and harrassment between consultants, unchecked by management. Blatant favoritism and special treatment depending on how much supervisors and management like you. Aggressive attendance policy with zero grace period for human situations like weather or car accidents or unexpected traffic. Managers and TL's can show up late if they get stuck behind an accident with zero issue. Any consultant who encounters the same issue is instantly penalized and it creates a high stress environment. People on the floor are constantly panicking and talking about their attendance points. Manager and TLs can also take sick absences without penalty. Managment offering incentives but building in more and more ways to disqualify you for the actual payout. Many people do the work for the incentive and then unexpectedly find out they won't be getting the promised payout due to some minuscule detail. Every sick absence for employees will result in being docked attendance points. Communication is poor. Processes and job expectations change rapidly and are very poorly communicated so there is an ever present confusion and frustration as no one seems to be on the same page or doing the same thing. There are lots of opportunities to explore other departments outside of Back Up Care but if a TL or Manager doesnt favor you, they can deny you ability to get out of this mayhem for little to no reason.

Pros

Bright Horizons has a meaningful mission and many employees genuinely care about helping families. I had the opportunity to work with several talented and kind colleagues, particularly within the engineering organization. Many individual contributors were collaborative, supportive, and committed to doing quality work despite organizational challenges.

Cons

My experience within the Product organization was VERY disappointing. The culture often felt highly political and toxic, and decisions around influence, recognition, and organizational changes did not appear to be based on merit, performance, or measurable impact. In my experience, relationships and internal perception sometimes seemed to matter more than actual contribution. I also observed middle-management behaviors that appeared focused more on pleasing senior leaders than on driving actual outcomes, supporting teams, or encouraging honest feedback. This made it difficult to have direct conversations, challenge ineffective decisions, or improve how work actually got done. Because of this political and highly toxic environment, the organization felt inefficient. Too much time was spent managing alignment, perception, and internal dynamics, while execution, accountability, and practical problem-solving suffered. There are good people at Bright Horizons, but my experience in the Product organization was challenging from a culture, leadership, and decision-making standpoint.
