Pros
-The kids were a pleasure to work with -Fun environment if this is a part-time summer job and you don't need it to pay ANY bills -You will get CPR, Lifeguard, AED, and First Aid training and Certs (which you can take to any other job after) -Working at a pool was a fun work place
Cons
Disclaimer- this is a franchise, so all my criticisms come from working with the San Mateo, CA owner. -Labor laws were not followed, example: -breaks/lunches were not given even though all employees were working over 5 hours -new employees would be working sometimes their 1st to 3rd day with no I-9 filled out and submitted -Understaffed at the pool to the point where the Lifeguard on duty wouldn't have enough time to checkin with the parents, setup the activities for the classes, handle customer issues with scheduling/promotions through the classes. This all would be expected of 1 person while their main job function was to monitor the pool for drownings, to all is not possible. -Employees would be expected to stock and store inventory at their personal house for the business. -NO consideration to millage reimbursement for traveling between pool locations -Owner WOULD NOT come to any location, help with shift covers, training, hiring, orientation, customer complaints, or any job function to better the business -She would rely on her mostly part time employees (who were making under $20) to fully run the business
