Pros
Prior to this I had no healthcare experience, but I found it easy to transition. I work in the Department of Medicine and my boss is extremely generous and patient. He really helped guide me and he is always looking to help me build upon my strengths. He does not micro manage, which I like, and he is very open to hearing ideas and suggestions. Also, there is a tradition that when a resident passes their board exams, they buy lunch for the department. This is always a good time, everyone gathers in the conference room and enjoys a meal together. while congratulating the new certified doctor. I always look forward to those days.
Cons
Sometimes I find it difficult to get answers from people about things. If we're all on the same team then why can't I just get the information I need so I can move on with my job. There seem to be unnecessary hoops to jump through. I get frustrated sometimes trying to get things done, it feels like policies get in the way rather than promote progress.
