Pros

It's easy work. There are a lot of tasks to do on a daily basis... but it's retail; that's to be expected. There is plenty of guidance from corporate, so if you're not a thinker, this would be good for you. There is also - within that guidance - a lot of freedom to make your own decisions, so if you are a thinker you're welcome to do that as well.

Cons

I'm not sure that most of those who make policy and process decisions have ever done (or are even remotely familiar with) the jobs about which those decisions are made. Simple things like claiming five minute tasks should take five hours and vice-versa. Payroll budgets change from week to week, so there is little consistency in employee coverage. Very little training resources are available for new employees and in the rare occasion that someone is actually promoted the pay increase is withheld for 90 days. This ensure that the employee is competent to do the job before paying them accordingly and allows the company to demote them back to their previous position without the hassle of salary issues. In addition, when the employee reaches 90 days in their new position, there is no retroactive pay at the new rate. Although this makes great business sense, it is awful for employees. Employee salaries seem quite random and not based on experience, aptitude, etc...

Pros

The discounts are great! If one of the good managers/team leads is working, I'll be able to get an extra smoke break or maybe even two. Otherwise, it's not happening. They've been very, very flexible with everyone's hours! Much better than anywhere else I've worked! I really appreciate that the majority of the staff haven't been racist, discriminating, judgemental, etc. They've given work opportunities to all types of people (they're not picky on one's race, disability, age, looks, etc). 👍 They really do seem to be an equal-opportunity employer.

Cons

There has been lots and lots of theft because they have absolutely no security other than their products' tags. Almost rarely do we see a janitor or the manager. It's been very hard to get used to coworkers because they're constantly going through staff! It's not just me that's been bothered by it. Plus, SO many staff, including myself, have always whined and complained about our lack of hours, but the full-time staff get overtime?! Yeah, the amount of hours absolutely sucks when it's not a big "shopping" time! Your best luck for getting your wanted hours is only around Christmas and back-to-school. 🙄
