Pros

Smart people. Free Coffee. Laid back atmosphere.

Cons

"Straight Talk" is apparently one of the values but the CEO sent out an email putting the whole company on blast for putting reviews on Glassdoor. When you bring your concerns to management, it either falls on dead ears or there'll be target on your back for the next layoff. I decided to leave because it was purely depressing. Every month or so, our manager would call for a "staff meeting", which was just a routine get-together telling us about staff reductions in the company. The work also gets monotonic at times. Either you're working with some clunky old technology or you're fixing some production bug/outage affecting clients (that are also a result of this old technology). Most people working there are either waiting for a layoff or waiting to retire. Leave while you can.

CDK Global Response

Thank you for sharing your perspective about your experience working at CDK Global. I appreciate your recognition that we have talented people and an easy-going environment here at CDK! As Brian stated in the email you refer to, "as part of our pledge to always practice straight talk, I invite each of you to have critical conversations with your managers and teams about opportunities you see to serve customers, work together better and drive our business results. I have learned that the direct route is always the most effective one". I am sorry to hear that you've chosen to leave CDK and were not engaged in the work. I appreciate your feedback and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. - Amy Byrne, CHRO

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits (if that outweighs a toxic culture for you. My time at CDK has shown me what good leadership does NOT look like.

Cons

Leadership and management culture were the biggest issues. Poor managers are protected and good employees are left carrying the consequences. There is a strong culture of micromanagement, shifting expectations, and documentation over development. Honest feedback wasn't valued and accountability seemed to stop at management. Over time I watched team morale suffer, trust disappearing, and fellow talented employees leaving in sake of their sanity.
